Progress has been made in the renovation of 178 urban villages in Hangzhou, a life-improvement project set to finish in 2020, city officials said.
In Zhuantang Sub-district, nine villages have been renovated, benefiting 1,579 households. Yesterday, families in Shizi Village began to move to new apartments built on the site of their demolished houses.
In Wangjiang Sub-district, over 5,000 families will be relocated before the yearend and 38 companies will be relocated as well. About 1.5 square kilometers of land will be cleared for the construction of roads and the east square of Hangzhou Railway Station.
According to the official plan, 22 urban villages will be renovated this year, including Xixing Street, Dongguan Village, Jinshagang Village, Nanshan Village and Shuangfeng Village.
