Japan dazzles visitors with cherry blossoms in spring but Hangzhou is just as charming with cherry trees in bloom from early March to mid April.

Due to the warm winter, some cherry trees began to blossom as early as late February, including those in Taiziwan Park by West Lake. The 1,200 or so cherry trees were planted there in 1988 and they attract huge crowds every spring.

The West Lake area and several main roads in downtown Hangzhou will have clouds of white and pink cherry blossoms until early April. Some late species will have flowers through mid-April.
