André Derain (1880-1954) was a French artist and founder of modern painting. The exhibition is jointly organized by Guangda Art Museum and Institute of Artistic Phenomenology, China Academy of Art. It is the first to explore André Derain’s artistic creations and his influence and is divided into three parts: magnum opuses of André Derain in his middle and later years, the influence of his works, and research literature about the artist. Apart from painting and sculptures by Derain from the 1920s to the 1940s, the show features works by Alberto Giacometti, Balthus, Avigdor Arikha, Sam Szafran and Szeto Lap, all who were influenced by Derain.
