Malandain Ballet Biarritz was created in 1998 in Biarritz by choreographer Thierry Malandain. It is one of 19 National Choreographic Centers (Centres Chorégraphiques Nationaux) in France and an essential cultural institution of Aquitaine. Composed of 22 dancers, the Malandain Ballet Biarritz is usually considered a contemporary ballet or neoclassical ballet. It is now a famous ballet troupe in Europe with over 8,000 members. Most of its repertoire, including Beauty and the Beast, was created exclusively by Thierry Malandain. Malandain Ballet Biarritz performs both at home and abroad.
